Happy Holidays and “BRR”-RY early Christmas. This is your inside scoop on the cone of freezing weather featuring the following topics: Secret Santa, Midterms, Making the Most of Winter Break, and Ending the Year With a Bang.
“Ho! Ho! Ho! Achoo! Ugh! Ahh!”
Of many holiday traditions, a favorite of mine is Secret Santa. This weather has really changed who Santa really is though -and made him really sick. Having a Secret Santa with friends is interesting, but may sometimes get messy. To avoid confusion of who’s got who, write down on a piece of paper of your name, three things you want, and then try your luck! It’s a great activity to do with new and old friends!
“GAAAAAH! STUDYING OVER BREAK?! THAT’S CRAZY!”
Well, actually, if you prepare what you have learned up until this point, your life will be so much easier. The three weeks in January will be far less stressful, and you’ll thank your past self for your hard work! Now you don’t have to study every minute of break, but chunking your time is the best for max productivity. And freshmen, midterms are as terrifying as us upperclassmen make it seem like. If you put in the time, your grades will be fine. *wink**wink*
Class quizlets are super helpful, so one doesn’t have to do the work alone :)
Making the Most of Winter Break
Marshmallows. Late Nights. Cool Mornings. Fuzzy Socks. Work days.
Ah, winter break. The time we’ve all been eagerly waiting for. Two weeks of pure relaxation, hanging out, and a sort of condensed (and freezing!) summer. In all the spa days, face masks, snowball fights and hot chocolate, it’s important to still have headlights on. While the break is seemingly like centuries, - it’s still going to fly by like a really short nap *sigh*- it is important to stay busy. To make the most of the rest of your 2017, make a schedule and stick to it! Between making gingerbread houses and sharing laughs, prepare for the coming year. Especially with midterms peeking around the corner, in the fourth week of January 2018. Meet up with friends from old, hang out with the new, and try something you hadn’t before. After all, there are only about two weeks left. “Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home.” - Edith Sitwell
Ending the Year With a BANG!
Let’s all give a cheer, ‘cuz we made it here, it's the last days of the 2017 year.
2017 is leaving us! I hope you have made the best of your year, from the good days to the bad days. In the spirit of the new year, reminisce over past photos, activities, and videos to close out your year. Write your resolutions (the ones that’ll actually stick like snow), spend time with your friends and family, and enter the new year with a truly new you. It isn’t about bashing yourself when making resolutions, but thinking of ways to be a BETTER you in the fast approaching 2018.
This has been the December Low-Down, your new insider of the month. Remember to stay safe, have fun, and relax during these last few laps of 2017. Have an amazing winter break Charter family!
