Letter From the Editor
Author Ben Snyder
As the 2016-2017 school year comes to a close and the final newspaper publication of the year rolls out, I thought it appropriate to write another letter reviewing what has changed since my first letter. The Force File is now well on its way to being an established school newspaper. I wanted to send a thank you to all the writers in CSW Newspaper Club whose work has made the newspaper possible. We have seen articles about a huge variety of topics: interviews of Charter teachers, the 2016 election both local and national, fantasy genre short stories, tech products, advice and so much more.
At the start of the year, the newspaper consisted of an empty website and a brainstorming document. Now, we have a burgeoning google folder maze with seven editions and around one hundred articles total. The first meeting saw a packed room of freshman and sophomores which has evolved into a core group of staff writers occasionally supplemented by interested guest contributors. For that magical creation of a functioning newspaper from the hazy realm of ideas, I would like to specially recognize Grady McPeak, Preeti Krishnamani, and Nikhil Kanamarla.
While the the club now has a solid foundation, there are plenty of developments to look forward to next year. The prospect of finding new voices to join the club and focusing more on the school community and its events is especially exciting. For the sake of surprise, I won’t go into any specific details, but I can guarantee that we will continue to improve the club and the content it produces.
The first year of the paper has been quite a journey: at times inspiring and energizing, at others frustrating and tedious. I just hope that all of our readers have learned as much as we have!
